Books for Soldiers from The Arc

The Arc of Howard County’s Employment Group members, along with other Day Program participants, have been very active volunteering in the community.  A recent project involved sending snacks, books and cards to five units of soldiers stationed overseas.  The Arc partnered with Books for Soldiers, an organization whose mission is to provide a place for soldiers to request books and other relief items.

The books were donated by The Arc, as well as the Ocean Pines Branch of the Worcester County Library, Kathy and Louis Pellegrino, Norman and Rae Disney, Ray and Jennifer Kawata, Betty Riston, and Susan Klukas and her co-workers at Re/Max 100 office in Columbia.

“Honoring those who help our country is important.  I am glad to organize a project that helps to bring enjoyment and a taste of home to those who are far away,” said Jessica Dalrymple, project coordinator.

As part of a project organized by The Arc of Howard County, Tiffany Brooks helps pack a box with books and snacks for soldiers serving oversea.
