Got Flood Damage? HoCo Wants to Know

  • September 8, 2011

If your home has sustained damage from the recent storms, county officials advise first contacting your insurance or flood insurance agent.

Then, report it to the county at damagereports@howardcountymd.gov.

One caveat: "The county can only accept reports of damage to first floor and above; reports of damage to flooded basements cannot be accepted," stated Howard County government in a news release.

Reports must include the following information:

  • Property address
  • Type of property (commercial or residential)
  • If residential, type of residence (multi-family, single family, townhouse or mobile home)
  • Is the property insured?
  • Is the property owner-occupied?

Howard County may assist with structural assessment and can create a record of local incidents so the county could receive aid if need be.
