If your home has sustained damage from the recent storms, county officials advise first contacting your insurance or flood insurance agent.
Then, report it to the county at damagereports@howardcountymd.gov.
One caveat: "The county can only accept reports of damage to first floor and above; reports of damage to flooded basements cannot be accepted," stated Howard County government in a news release.
Reports must include the following information:
- Property address
- Type of property (commercial or residential)
- If residential, type of residence (multi-family, single family, townhouse or mobile home)
- Is the property insured?
- Is the property owner-occupied?
Howard County may assist with structural assessment and can create a record of local incidents so the county could receive aid if need be.
