The Howard County Board of Education bought back land on Ducketts Lane in Elkridge on Feb. 1 for $2.64 million. The county had previously owned the same parcel of land, which it sold to a developer in 2002 for $827,000.

Man Shot, Killed by Police After Patrol Car Stolen
After Baltimore County police tried to pull over a car without headlights in Catonsville, the vehicle crashed at the I-695/I-95 split and the driver stole a police car. The 26-year-old Baltimore Highlands man, who had a history of leading police on chases, was later shot and killed by police who tracked him to Caton Avenue in Baltimore City. 

Laurel Councilman To Lead Patuxent River Commission
Laurel Council member Mike Leszcz has been tapped to serve as chair of the Patuxent River Commission, a 34-member interjurisdictional group created by the Maryland legislature in 1980 to address Patuxent River watershed issues. 

'Diluted' Milk Removed from Glenwood Middle Cafeteria
After a student complained last week about a carton of milk tasting bad, milk was pulled from sale at Glenwood Middle School. Dairy testing showed that the milk was diluted with pasteurized water used to flush processing equipment. Howard County Health Department officials are still awaiting state lab results for tests performed on a sample of the milk.
