Police: Elkridge Burglar Found With Money Bag

The following information was provided by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Police say they caught a burglary suspect red-handed with cash from an Ekridge store he allegedly robbed.

Joseph Charles Williams, 53, of Patterson, NJ, was charged with 22 counts of burglary, nine counts of malicious destruction of property and four counts of theft in connection with three businesses burglarized on Marshalee Drive Sunday morning.

Police said that Williams broke into Naima's Hair Design, Hunan Express and Great Clips.

A newspaper delivery driver reported that the glass door to Naima's Hair Design had been shattered at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, according to the Howard County Police Department (HCPD).

When officers arrived, they said they saw Williams walking out of Naima's with a TV, and he fled when they tried to detain him, according to the report from HCPD. After Williams was subsequently detained, police said they also found a money bag with cash from Naima's.

Williams is in the Howard County Detention Center. He has a preliminary hearing date of Oct. 2.
