Last year, the festival featured Avicii, Kid Cudi and the Shins. In a review of last year's concert, a Baltimore Sun music critic said of the festival, "If the Sweetlife Festival were an actual sweet, I'd vote for a lemon bar: smooth, luscious, with only a few chunks of sour, yet on the whole thoroughly enjoyable."

The festival is sponsored by Sweetgreen, a chain of salad bowl restaurants started in 2007 by D.C. area college students. Because of the Sweetgreen connection, the festival offers salads, wraps, bowls and yogurt among other healthy food items and focuses on sustainability.
