Whether or not you are a religious, a vast majority of people recognize The Bible as a text of virtue and law. Our founding fathers used the Ten Commandments as the basis of our Constitution. When addressing homosexuality, selected passages in The Bible are often quoted because they distinctly proclaim same gender sex to be a sin and an abomination, in the same category with incest and sex with animals. Most quoted is Leviticus 18:22, which reads: "You shall not lie with a man as one lies with a woman, it is an abomination.”

Those who argue gay marriage is a “civil right” often use miscegenation as a similar situation, and note the law change (Loving vs. Virginia) allowing interracial marriage. But is it the same? For one, nowhere in The Bible does it mention that marriage between races is wrong. In fact, Colossians 3:11 makes it clear that when both parties are believers, interracial marriage is fine. Plus we have the simple fact that it is still a marriage between a man and a woman.

If homosexuals want to live together, fine, let them. But it is wrong to legally consecrate these relationships, and denigrate the sanctity of marriage by doing so.

It is morally wrong to legally consecrate any relationships if you ask me. Most voters and nearly all politicians are a bunch of fat and aging losers. Can't we just let people do their own thing while we mind our own business? Do we really need government involved in every aspect of our lives? Marriage is just a private contract between two or more people. Get the government out.

What a Maryland circus. What is coming next year ---- same family marriage? Or how about Warren Jeff's multiple partners , any age marriage? These people have rights too.

This issue has nothing to do with your religion. This country is governed by the Constitution, not the bible. Marriage is a legal joining of two people first and for many people it is a religious joining as well. The bigots need to stop hiding behind a book that is thousands of years old. Just admit that you are a bigot. You chose to be a bigot. God didn't tell you to be one.
I can’t believe that gays and lesbians are being compared to pedophiles and bestiality. I’m appalled to find out that there are so many ignorant, hateful, bigots in my community.

I do not agree with homosexuality. However who am I to judge? IMHO only God has the right to judge. That said I beleive that marriage is a civil as well as religious union. I see nothing wrong with allowing gay couples to lawfully unite in a civil union of marriage.

How about less fuss over who is getting married and more fuss about making our marriages work? What is it-- 50+% of marriages end in divorce now? And yet we are worried about homosexuals upsetting the "religious sanctity of marriage"?

Same sex marriage cannot lead to bestiality because animals aren't able to legally consent, nor are children (although it was only recently that people stopped marrying children anyway). In any case, I don't see how gay marriage could possibly be any worse for the institution of marriage than two drunk strangers driving into a drive-thru chapel in Las Vegas to say I do. At least same sex couples are serious enough about their relationships to fight this long legal battle for equality.

I can't believe what Iam seeing on here! Just because someone is homosexual it doesn't make them a damn freak! I can't believe you people Iam disgusted by the people that are saying these horrible things. They are people just like everyone they just so happen to like the same sex. There not animals and there not goin to come rape your children because they are gay get real!
