Saturday Forecast: Wintry Mix, Strong Winds

A winter weather advisory and wind advisory are in effect.

Until 7 p.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of Maryland, including Howard County.

Between 1 to 3 inches of snow may fall across Maryland and Virginia, according to the NWS.

For the most part, the precipitation will be rain, with a few snowflakes mixed in, said the NWS. In Elkridge, the forecast says less than half an inch is expected to accumulate.

After the snow, get ready for some wind.

The NWS has issued a wind advisory, effective from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday. Gusts may reach 35 mph.

Driving may be difficult, said the NWS.

The high Saturday is 40 degrees, with temperatures plummeting to 19 degrees in the evening.

Sunday's high is 34 degrees, with a low of 20.
