SPEAK OUT: Anticipating the End of the World Dec. 21?
Is the apocalypse coming? Are you ready?
In 1999, tales of the “Y2K” bug sounded the doomsday alarm and people took rock legend Prince’s anthem “1999” to heart on Dec. 31, 1999:
They say two thousand zero zero party over, oops out of time. So tonight I’m gonna party like its nineteen ninety-nine.
When people awoke on Jan. 1, 2000, most computers were running just fine and the world kept turning.
Now, stories of the impending apocalypse (Dec. 21, 2012, according to some interpretations of the Mayan calendar) are rampant, even with reputable organizations like NASA debunking many of the most common apocalyptic theories.
What do you think will happen on Dec. 21?
Do you have any plans for “the end of the world?”
Will you watch your regularly scheduled Thursday night television shows?
Go on an End of the World cruise?
Attend an End of the World party?
Fire up Spotify, put your headphones on and enjoy an End of the World playlist?
Tell us your plans in our comments section.

I'm going to watch Elementary and wrap Christmas presents. If the world does end, we won't have to worry about the fiscal cliff anymore, will we?

If it snows, they'll have to cancel Armagedon. We simply won't be able to dig out in time.

I recently read an article about a NASA scientist who answers questions concerning December 21st. He regularly receives emails from people (even kids as young as 11 or 12) who are contemplating suicide before the world ends. Others even ask questions about when is a good time to euthanize their pets or kill their family members so they won't suffer.
Its a sad world we live in that the media and movie industry have actually scared people into thinking the world is going to end.
