We wonder why we have repeat offenders like this?! The bail set is a joke. Now they have time to rob some more so they will have money if their bail amount is raised. Our justice system failed us on this one!

Who is the district court commissioner? Is this an elected office or appointed? What does he/she want to do, invite the burglars to have a field day in Howard County? The male burglar had violated parole already...what does it take to have a legal system sympathetic to the victim rather than the criminal?

I agree. You cannot blame the police, they got them....it was the district court commissioner. It would have been nice if they could have published that person's name.

The problem is the Assistant States Attorney Natasha M. Byus who didn't talk to the commisioner before the bail hearing and now she is back pedaling to try to get another bail hearing set after the fact. I hope they go to her home while see is letting other criminals go free.

...by the way, I think finding out what happened regarding the low bail, and then following up your concern is the way to go, not to invite more unhealthy behavior. I empathize with your feelings, my home was broken in to, while two of my adult sons were home...suffice it to say, I am glad that my oldest did not catch the dude. I dealt with the perpetrator thru the court process. I believe this was more effective than my son, chasing after the guy, who could have had a number of buddies ready to take my son out....think about it. Violence, etc, doesn't have to beget violence....

I'm sorry that you were victim to a break in. One of my neighbors was also victim to a break-in. I'm not not civil and would rather they get what they deserve at the hands of someone else b/c the justice system is too easy to get around as we can see what happened with these 2. I thought the hearing was originally set for the 30th and I was going to try to make it. How did they get out in 2 days?

Yes, I agree, it is a serious problem. But, I believe our entire justice system is failing, not just in HC. I applaud you for considering attending the hearing, but, since that did not happen, we have other pro active responses, other than continuing the violence , etc,

please publish pictures of these two (their mug shots) so if we see them in our neighborhoods we can follow them closely.

Court Commissioners don't even need a college education or police or law experience.
How do you let someone with 15 pending violations go like that?
Those two will flee I'm sure and raise havoc in another town in America.

I used to be friends with a Howard County Court Commissioner and dude was about as sharp as bowling ball!

These folks clearly have no respect or regard for the law. This was not a first time offense. Prior sentencing has done nothing to deter behavior. I just do not understand how they can be allowed to be released for such a small amount.

LK, what are you proposing to do to make a difference? I don't have a law degree but I do know right from wrong and if I could be the county commissioner and replace thie one who let these 2 out tten I'm in.

Let's get a rally going and picket the numbscull outside the courthouse when he comes to work on Tuesday!!

Looks like plenty of blame to go around here, but as usual, nobody is stepping up to take responsibility. Where is the County Exec. Ulman on all this? Why doesn't Patch call his office on Monday and ask for/demand comment? You are journalists, right?

Thanks Cola MD ! Each one of us can make phone calls to whichever one of these individuals we care to. You do not have to be a reporter to contact your county exec, or your county Admin Judge, etc. I think we should all contact all of them, write a letter to the Col. Flyer, the Balt. Sun etc. I rec'd a call from FOX News DC who is interested in following up on the story. Let go folks, speak up. Hopefully without the threats etc. Be honest, be passionate, be thoughtful...contact! I am going to do my part. I will keep you posted with, my success or failure getting through! You dont need a college degree to simply look at their past and see that letting them out with $15k bail is a problem. Once again, HoCo is one of 5 counties in the entire US that outlaw non-lethal means of protecting ourselves. I can buy a pump shotgun and take one of these goofs out. Or I can get a taser. Someone please post the email address of the commissioner. They are a public servant and must be answerable to the public.

My opinion is, w/o that direct info, we should all contact the County Exec. Ken Ulman, if he doesn't know, or if he doesn't care, the proof will be in the puddin. That is my personal belief. If everyone who has posted their concern, contacts Ken Ulman's office, by
email, phone call, or letter, we will be heard.

Let us not let them just put this under the rug...this is wrong, so wrong.. it is up to you, and us... we all know what happens to the lone voice. I am willing to go forth..anyone else? Or have folks already lost interest?

Ken Ulman is the LAST person I would vote for on anything. He is a complete sell out and has squandered the trust of all those that believed he was not going to over-develop the county. I am deeply disappointed in HoCo and what it has become thanks to him and his buddies.

AML, thank you. I do believe this needs to be addressed. Since we are not getting any info from the folks that have been deemed responsible, the County Executive, Ken Ulman, should see our concern and address this. I have been very disappointed in the response, excuse me, lack of response from those responsible. I am an optimist, so I am hopeful that Mr. Ulman will address this terrible injustice to the victims of Howard County. If not....then we will have to go from there.
