 ion Proclamation and the release of the block-buster film "Lincoln"\, in
 terest in this iconic American president has never been higher. Which is
  why we thought now would be a great time for the Howard County Historic
 al Society to host a bus tour to visit Lincoln's Cottage in Washington\,
  D.C. -- and hopefully catch the cherry blossoms in bloom!Join us the mo
 rning of April 5th and climb aboard a comfortable Eyre Bus as we head do
 wn to tour the most&nbsp\;significant historic site directly associated 
 with Lincoln's presidency aside from the White House. During the Civil W
 ar\, President Lincoln and his family resided here from June to November
  of 1862\, 1863\, and 1864. He made major decisions and developed the Em
 ancipation Proclamation during the months spent at the Cottage.After a $
 15 million restoration by the National Trust for Historic Preservation\,
  President Lincoln's Cottage opened to the public for the first time in 
 2008. The cottage is located on the Soldier&rsquo\;s Home in Washington\
 , D.C.\, is owned and operated by the National Trust for Historic Preser
 vation.Ticket prices are $59 for HCHS Members and $65 for non-members an
 d can be purchased in advance at the Historical Center at the Miller Bra
