5 Things to do with the Kids this Weekend in Greater Elkridge

This weekend is all about the outdoors. Take a walk through the wilds of the Howard County Conservancy or sit by the campfire and listen to ghost stories.

Take A Walk On The Wild Side 

Where: Howard County Conservancy, 10520 Old Frederick Rd., Woodstock

Why Go: What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than taking this walk through the woods. Learn more about the spooky and slimy animals and meet some up close and personal. This program will be held indoors. All are welcome.

Take A Historic Hike 

Where: , 2711 Maryland Ave., Ellicott City

When: Sat., Oct. 8, 2 p.m. 

Why Go: Get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather while learning about Historic Ellicott City on a one-hour hike. Learn the 5 R's (railroad, river, road , rock and rebuild). Experience the antique stores, unique shops and restaurants along Main Street. You will be led by a tour guide that can fill you with information and answer all your questions.

Get Cozy By The Campfire

Where: Rockburn Branch Park, 5400 Landing Rd. 

When: Sat., Oct. 8, 6 p.m. 

Why Go: Camping weather will not stick around for too much longer so bring a flashlight and a blanket and enjoy a spooky walk. Then sit around the campfire and eat s'mores while listening to ghost stories and singing songs. Costumes are encouraged. Kids 15 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Shop The Farmers' Market

Why Go: Prepare to bake that fall apple pie by picking fresh apples from local farmers.

Celebrate An Historic Church

When: Sun., Oct. 9, 10 a.m. 

Why Go: It's not everyday that a church turns 100. So celebrate the 100th anniversary of the old stone Grace Episcopal Church with a festival eucharist at 10 a.m. followed by a catered brunch in the parish hall.
