Flea Market at Elkridge Firehouse, Wine Festival in Westminster: Weekend To-Do List

    When: 8 a.m.–2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15
    Why Go: Get your holiday shopping started early, and support the Junior firefighters by purchasing items at this fair. Vendors include 31 Gifts, Scentsy, Beauti Control, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Jamberrys, Jessicas Hearts and Glassware.

  • Flower Show
    Where: Ellicott City Senior Center (9401 Frederick Rd.) in Ellicott City
    When: 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14
    Why Go: Howard County Garden Club hosts a fall flower show called "September's Charms" with judging in design and horticulture. Seasonal plants include sunflowers, dahlias, black-eyed Susans, salvia, zinnias and asters. Judging precedes the public viewing.

  • 17th Annual Book Sale
    Where: Shepherd of The Glen Lutheran Church (14551 Burntwoods Rd.) in Glenwood
    When: 3–7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, and Saturday, Sept. 15; 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16
    Description: More than 20,000 books will be for sale, with rooms of children's books, and more than 1,000 antiquarian books, along with coffee table books, DVDs, puzzles, videos, CDs, tapes and records.
    Pricing: Free admission; $0.50 for children's and paperback books: $1 for hardback books; antiquarian books and a limited number of others priced individually.
  • 29th Annual Maryland Wine Festival
    Where: Carroll County Farm Museum (500 S. Center St.) in Westminster
    When: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15; noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16
    Why Go: Experience local vineyards through tastings and wine seminars, try food from local restaurants, browse through offerings from artisans and craft vendors, and hear lots of live music.
    Pricing: $27–$62 for adults (21+); $20 for designated drivers and children (13-20)
