Kupcakes & Co. Sweetens Season of Cancer Awareness

The 'cupcakery' coming to Elkridge this spring designed five signature cupcakes for Blossoms of Hope, a Howard County nonprofit dedicated to raising cancer awareness.

Blossoms of Hope, the Howard County nonprofit that raises awareness about cancer, kicked off its spring initiatives with dozens of people dressed in pink and a table full of cupcakes on Wednesday during a celebration in Columbia.

Kupcakes & Co., which is slated to open up shop in Elkridge this spring, dropped off five batches of donations for the party. "Owner and baker Michele Kupiec has created five signature gourmet flavors for Blossoms of Hope to help raise awareness for the project," said Victoria Goodman, executive director of Blossoms of Hope.

The specially created cupcakes included Claudia's Choice, a white cupcake with raspberry buttercream icing; Think Pink, a dark chocolate cupcake with pieces of cherry inside and a cherry buttercream icing; Pink Velvet, a chocolate cupcake with pink cream cheese icing; Pink Joy, a chocolate coconut cupcake with almond buttercream icing; and Blossoms of Hope, a cherry vanilla cupcake with cherries inside and cherry buttercream icing on top.

The cupcakes will also be available at the next Blossoms of Hope event, a luncheon/fashion show on April 1 at Turf Valley in Ellicott City. The month of activities has been dubbed "Cherrybration," as Blossoms of Hope plants cherry blossoms and hosts cancer awareness-raising events through April to cultivate hope and awakening around Howard County.
