Missed Out on FreeFest Tickets? Here Are Three More Ways to Get Them

Just like the free tickets during the general sale, these opportunities to get tickets to the popular fall festival in Columbia are fading.

The general "sale" for Virgin Mobile's FreeFest tickets sold out in less than an hour on Friday afternoon.

But don't lose hope just yet music fans. There are still three more ways to obtain tickets, although those are running out quickly, according to organizers.

Here's how you can still obtain them:

1. Buy a "freemimum" package. This $49.95 package includes a $10 donation to a homeless youth shelter as well as a FreeFest t-shirt, and souvenir cup that entitles the holder to free soft drinks at the festival. These packages are available at Merriweather Post Pavilion's box office, on Ticketfly or at the 9:30 Club box office. However, a spokesperson for Virgin Mobile, Audrey Schaefer, said the tickets are almost sold out.

2. Volunteer - Fans can volunteer several hours of their time between Aug. 17 and Sept. 7 through Sash Bruce Youthwork. Volunteers must register on FreeFest's volunteer website. Work includes painting, planting and other landscaping activities. Each volunteer will receive one VIP ticket. Schaefer said register as soon as possible, because volunteer opportunities are filling quickly.

3. Donate hygiene products - For this one, you need to create at least four travel size kits of hygiene products containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, liquid soap, deodorant, lotion, shampoo and conditioner. The kits can be dropped off at the Sasha Bruce House from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 17, 24, 31 or Sept. 7.

Volunteer hours and donations will benefit the Sasha Bruce House, which works to fight youth homelessness in the Washington, D.C. area.

The 2013 Virgin Mobile FreeFest takes place on Sept. 21 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia.
