BGE Crews Restore Power After Ice Downs Lines

About 22,000 BGE customers lost power after Sunday's ice storm.

BGE crews worked into the night Monday to restore power to about 22,000 customers, reports WBAL TV. Most of the damage came from tree limbs coated with ice that snapped, dragging down power lines.

The company said most customers had power restored within 24 hours.

For crews, the biggest challenge came when bucket trucks couldn’t reach downed lines in wooded areas, the TV station said.

The utility has crews ready to respond to outages caused by Tuesday’s snowfall, although snow is less problematic than ice.
