Interest Brewing in Buttermilk Hill Tavern

What would you put there?

Before Friday's big drawing, Elkridge readers said that , they would invest in everything from golf to family to business with the winnings.

“I'd try to buy the old Buttermilk Hill Tavern property and turn it into a brewery/pub,” Brenton MacAloney, who lives in Elkridge and is the president of the Cross Street Irregulars Homebrew Club.

The next buyer of the property on the 6100 block of Washington Boulevard need not have won the Mega Millions, according to the listing agent.

“The price is $995,000,” said Roman Tsimberg of Nations Realty Trust, in an interview with Elkridge Patch about the land that he explained is two parcels combined.

“It has commercial zoning in the front and residential in the back,” said Tsimberg. “The piece that goes over the road is zoned commercial and behind that it’s residential. It’s over 4 acres of land altogether.”

According to Maryland’s Department of Assessments and Taxation, the tavern was built in 1966. As far as its future development, MacAloney may have some competition, or a partner, in his endeavor.

“I've been waiting for six years now (since I moved to Elkridge) for someone to buy the abandoned restaurant at the top of the hill…and turn it into a nice café,”  Katryn Stewart. “I'm thinking live local bands on Friday night, maybe some wine options, but coffee and breakfast (and a play corner for the kids) a must! We need a nice LOCAL place for the LOCAL community to gather.”

Interested parties may contact Tsimberg at 410-365-1066.
