Calidad Furniture Plays Musical Chairs

Store liquidates warehouse, freshens up showroom.

 is doing some autumn cleaning.

For the past week, the store in the US 1 plaza has been playing musical chairs in its showroom as it sells off inventory that had been sitting in storage out back.

“We’re moving out of our warehouse,” explained Joseph, who works there and declined to give his last name. Joseph said his friend Mario owns the business, which consists of a showroom and warehouse space.

The store and showroom will remain, said Joseph; it's just the warehouse that they're liquidating.

“We have several warehouses—two in Langley Park and one in Wheaton. This one, we don’t need," said Joseph, pointing to several bays near the  where Calidad has been clearing out its inventory.

After one week of publicizing the sale with signs around Elkridge, staff said the liquidation is going well.

“We sell three or four living room sets, we put out more," said Joseph. He estimated that 10 percent of the warehouse furniture was gone. "We’re moving things.”

The inventory in the showroom is constantly changing, as are the prices, which are all negotiable. "You name it," said Joseph. "If it's furniture, we've got it—and we've got to get rid of it."
