Christmas Tree Shopping in Elkridge

Meadowridge shopping plaza has Maryland firs.

For fresh local trees, the Meadowridge Road shopping plaza has an edge on the market.

"About 40 of the trees on the lot were cut today," said Emmanuel "Manny" Ziegler.

"Why buy from the other guys? We sell Maryland trees," said Ziegler, whose Elkridge business, Strickland Landscaping, is running the tree shop.

Approximately 80 percent of the lot's trees come from Pine Valley Tree Farm in Elkton, he added.

Trees cost between $34 and $80, according to Ziegler. Primarily, the lot has Fraser and Douglas firs. In addition, he sells what he called "wreaths with elegant bows," for $25.

Ziegler helps people in the process of buying a tree from selection to purchase. While Patch was observing Ziegler, a family came and bought a tree, which he cut and then put on the roof of their SUV for them, no problem. He also offers delivery service.

Located on Meadowridge Road near the MD 100 traffic circle, the tree lot is in its first year and appears to be doing well. Ziegler also has a batch of trees for sale in Violetville near Arbutus.

The tree lot on Meadowridge Road near the traffic circle to MD 100 is open weekdays from 12–9 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
