Daniels Restaurant Wins Readers’ Choice for St. Patrick’s Day

Since the holiday falls on a Saturday this year, the Washington Boulevard establishment isn't devoting just one day to the festivities.

“We're celebrating all weekend long. We want to go all out as much as we can,” said Terri Daniels, general manager and granddaughter of the restaurant’s founder. “Both sides of our family are Irish, so we’re trying to celebrate it right.”

As early as breakfast, diners can get in the St. Paddy's Day spirit with corned beef omelets. The restaurant is preparing 100 pounds of corned beef, using a recipe Daniels said has been in her family for generations. Reubens and Irish stew made with Guiness will also be on tap, in addition to the regular menu.

Throughout the weekend,  is running drink specials on Guinness, Jameson and “pickleback,” which is a shot of Jameson followed by pickle juice.

“Anything Irish we could think of, we’re partying with,” said Daniels.

It looks like Daniels can bank on partying with many Elkridge residents too.

brought in 56 percent of the votes in our poll to find Elkridge's favorite spot to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The next runner-up was the Stained Glass Pub, with 31 percent.

Three people in the Elkridge Patch business guide, and all gave it five stars.

Of note, each review mentioned the word “family." One reviewer Daniels was a “nice family-run restaurant with good deals on beer.” Another : “Don’t be intimidated by the bikers….We take our young children with us, and it’s family friendly.”

That is music to the ears of the restaurant’s management, which has been trying to raise awareness that “we’re not just a biker bar,” said Daniels. “We’re a full-service restaurant.”
