As winter comes to a close in the area, it appears things are coming up green in more ways than one. With recent tax credits and grants from the government, along with companies like Solar Energy World making equipment more affordable and readily available, now is most definitely the time for homeowners to go green and save some green. Maryland in particular is experiencing a rapid expansion with installations of green energy solutions growing by 69% in 2011. State lawmakers have set a goal of getting 20% of the state’s power from renewable sources, and at least 2% of that from solar energy, all by 2022
Next month, Solar Energy World is hosting a free workshop for families and homeowners at their Maryland headquarters in Elkridge. There, homeowners will learn about solar energy, how it can be incorporated in their homes, and what the costs and incentives are to going solar. While the adults are learning about the solar energy, children will have the opportunity to learn about solar energy through fun and educational activities. RSVP is required by March 11, 2012.
