Howard County Hotels with Power, Vacancy

More than 15,000 residents in Howard County are still without power Monday at 4:15 p.m., three days after the storm that prompted .

County officials said they were leaning on utility company BGE to restore power to residents during a week in which the National Weather Service forecast temperatures will hover in the mid-90s.

“BGE rep says Ellicott City was hardest hit...in Howard County,” Councilwoman Courtney Watson (D-Ellicott City/Elkridge) posted on Facebook Monday afternoon. "Hang in there, residents—the county is pushing on BGE hard and we will continue to do so until every last house is restored."

In the meantime, Howard County has made cooling centers available to the public, and at Cedar Lane Community Center (5081 Cedar Lane) in Columbia, to their pets as well.

For those without power who are looking for a place to stay where it’s cool, here are some local hotels with vacancies: 

  • (6755 Dorsey Rd.) in Elkridge; rooms starting at $119.99
  •  (10207 Wincopin Cir.) in Columbia; rooms starting at $99 
  • (6064 Marshalee Dr.) in Elkridge; rooms starting at $149
  •  (4950 Beaver Run Ct.) in Ellicott City; rooms starting $199; hotel is having difficulty with its reservation system so officials advise going in person to get a room
  •  (4344 Columbia Rd.) in Ellicott City; rooms starting at $209

Not Taking Reservations

, in northwestern Ellicott City, said on its website that it lost power and had no rooms available.

“Our phone systems are down due to the massive storm that swept through our area this weekend,” according to the Turf Valley website. “Systems will return when power is restored to the area. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

on Route 40 and in historic Ellicott City were unreachable Monday afternoon.
