The man whose Elkridge Heights home backed up to the property, Skip DuPree, said he hoped to see someone move in soon.

"This house needs to have somebody in it so it doesn't go to rubble," said DuPree, who added his family has lived in Elkridge for hundreds of years.

The winning bidder at auction, Jim Anderson, told Patch he plans to restore the home.

"I specialize in renovating houses," said Anderson, who moved to Elkridge six months ago from Boston to work for a prime subcontractor.

"This is one I would want to restore a little bit back to what it was," continued Anderson. "The bones are there; it's just a matter of finishing it."

The home was renovated recently, according to Tranzon. It was appraised for $290,020. Anderson's bid was $150,000.
