The building that has sold, and its new owners are already established in the Elkridge business community. They also deal in vehicles, albeit a different type than motorcycles.
—which designs and sells ambulances and firetrucks to counties, fire departments and hospitals—purchased the property at 7010 Troy Hill Dr. for $4 million, according to real estate broker and Elkridge native Sam Lancelotta, who represented the buyers.
"Their business has grown in the last few years," said Lancelotta, who noted that FESCO is moving from a 13,000-square-foot space on Macaw Court. "They needed more room for more vehicles and wanted to expand their service department."
The 30,0000-square-foot warehouse on Troy Hill has been vacant since March 2011, when .
Settlement on the property went through earlier this month, said Rob Freedman of Colliers International, managing partner and principal agent in the sale, who told Patch the in March.
The property in Troy Hill Corporate Center, which was listed for $4.5 million, attracted a great deal of interest, Freedman added.
"Several developers wanted to buy it, and they wanted to turn it into a shopping center but they didn't have tenants ready to go," said Freedman.
"We also had multiple people wanting to turn it into a church, more churches than you could imagine—that was a big surprise. But it's hard for churches to pay with this type of interest."
Freedman said that FESCO was a great match.
"I've been doing this for 23 years and these are some of the nicest people I've ever dealt with," said Freedman. "The building is perfect for them."
FESCO, whose owners live in Howard County, has put its Macaw Court headquarters on the market and will make the move to Troy Hill following some renovations over the next six to nine months, according to Lancelotta.
"They plan on expanding the office space and reconfiguring some of the service space," he said. "It’s a similar concept [to the Harley dealership] but not exactly set up the same way."
