Pollo Fuego Has Second Restaurant in the Works

The Jessup location has been so successful, owner said he's planning another.

Pollo Fuego has been in East Columbia Marketplace in Jessup for two years, and with the Peruvian chicken trend taking off, a new restaurant may hatch soon.

"We're trying to open another one in Baltimore," said owner Alex Postada.

"Everybody loves it," he said of his restaurant's Peruvian chicken, which is made with special seasonings and cooked on a spit for diners to see. "Everything is fresh, homemade," added Postada.

He said his wife decorated the restaurant off Assateague Drive, which has collages on the walls, red-and-yellow color scheme, black stools and a TV with Spanish programming.

The favorite dish among patrons is the signature Peruvian chicken, said Postada.

"It's damn good," said , Patch writer who ordered the chicken with a side of fried yucca during a recent lunch.

The menu also includes salads, burritos and other dishes.

"My favorite is seafood," said Sandra Mont, who works at Pollo Fuego. Mont hails from Honduras but said Peruvian is her favorite cuisine. She's also worked at other local Peruvian chicken restaurants—this is her third—and said this was the best. She said: "It's the recipe."

Pollo Fuego (7531 Assateague Dr., #280; Jessup) is open Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
