Twitter is Now Publicly Traded; Are You in?

The social media giant started being publicly traded Thursday morning.

When the market opened Thursday morning, Twitter became a publicly traded company.

Twitter was expected to go public with shares priced at $26. At that price, the value of the company is reported to be in the $18.24 billion range. However, the AP reported late Thursday morning that Twitter stock opened at $45.10 on the New York Stock Exchange amid strong demand.

Twitter Inc. originally planned to price shares between $17 and $20 for its IPO, according to Boston.com. The company raised the range on Monday to $23-$25 per share.

Twitter opened under the symbol “TWTR.”
