When Do Farmers’ Markets Open in Howard County in 2013?

Find out when to get fresh produce from the markets around the county, scheduled to open soon.

Farmers’ markets in Howard County will open between May 8 and May 12 in the area, offering a variety of fresh, locally grown early spring produce. 

Asparagus and spinach are in season in the early spring, according to the Howard County Farmers’ Market website.

Howard County blogger Annie Rie also recommends the fresh strawberries at Larriland Farm, 2415 Woodbine Road, Woodbine, where you can pick your own produce.

“The fruit is amazing quality,” she wrote. “Plus, they encourage noshing while you pick.”

 The following are the farmers' markets scheduled to open next month in Howard County:

  • Wednesday May 8: Miller Library, 9421 Frederick Rd, Ellicott City, 2-6 p.m.
  • Thursday May 9: East Columbia Library, 6600 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, 2-6 p.m.
  • Friday May 10: Howard County General Hospital, 5755 Cedar Ln, Columbia, 2-6 p.m.
  • Saturday May 11, Glenwood Library, 2350 State Route 97, Cooksville, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Sunday May 12, Oakland Mills Village Center, 5851 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
