Community Foundation of Howard County Appoints New Board Chair

The Community Foundation of Howard County, which raises, manages and distributes funds to support Howard County nonprofits, appointed Bruce A. Harvey as the new chair of the organization’s board of trustees. He has been a board member since June 2011.

Harvey is president and co-owner of Williamsburg Homes, an award-winning, Columbia-based home building company founded in 1983 that has received first-place accolades from the Homebuilders Association of Maryland for product design, livability, craftsmanship and value for 30 consecutive years. Prior to joining Williamsburg Homes in late 2007, Harvey served as Lennar Homes’ division president for Maryland.

“When I joined the foundation’s development committee in September 2009, I felt the Community Foundation of Howard County was a great place to put my energy and efforts. I really respected those who were involved,” Harvey explained. “As Williamsburg Homes is headquartered in Howard County, I felt it was meaningful to support this organization that serves the needs of nonprofits in Howard County.”

He received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from University of Maryland College Park.
