Elkridge Charity 5K to Benefit Needy Children

Find out how participating in the event can benefit children in need.

About 200 runners are expected to descend on Rockburn Branch Park in Elkridge 9 a.m. April 20 to participate in a 5K that will benefit needy children.

The event is put on by Project Promise, a non-profit organization founded in January 2011 by an Ellicott City couple dedicated to helping needy children, according to the organization’s website.

Money raised from the event, which costs $20-$25 per runner, benefits needy children with challenges such as heart defects, neutropenia, epilepsy, and developmental delays, according to the Elkridge Patch event listing. 

Other organization projects, according to the website, include scholarships, school supplies and equipment for needy children in the United States and internationally.
