- The proposed plastic bag tax could cost people jobs in Elkridge, according to PRNewsire. If the five-cent charge for grocery bags passes into Maryland law, 140 jobs could be jeopardized at Advance Polybag (6935 San Tomas Rd.), an Elkridge plant that manufactures plastic bags.
- Out of work since late 2009, an Elkridge woman with administrative experience was one of four unemployed females featured in the Baltimore Sun’s article on the “mancession,” in which 1.1 of the 1.3 million jobs filled in the past year have gone to males. Another Elkridge resident, a male Navy veteran, was among five job-seekers mentioned in the Sun’s article about the Fort Meade job fair.
- The go-to for Howard County cuisine recommendations—HowChow blog—noted that a new bakery, Kupcakes & Co., will be opening in Elkridge this spring, in the shopping center by Route 100 and Meadowridge Road.
