On this day in 2005, Elkridge lost a young soldier. While serving in Iraq, 20-year-old Army Specialist Samuel Boswell died after a tractor-trailer struck his Humvee, starting a fire that detonated ammunition. Boswell and two other soldiers were killed, according to this report from Our Fallen Heroes and the Associated Press.
