From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., there's going to be a stormwater workshop for citizens in the George Howard Building in Ellicott City (3430 Court House Drive). The educational event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters, Howard County Environmental Sustainability Board and the Howard County Citizens Association. At the workshop, local environmentalists plan to introduce a new initiative called the Howard County Watershed Stewards Academy.
Tonight, the Department of Recreation and Parks will hold its ninth annual Celebration of Sports for Howard County. Seating begins at 5:30 p.m. for the event at Turf Valley in Ellicott City, and the ceremony will include a tribute to Gary J. Arthur, the late director of parks and rec in whose honor a earlier this year.
