Freeze alert in Howard County, Ravens to redeem themselves and more.
Temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s today. There is a from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. The National Weather Service advises drivers to use caution, stating that water on bridges and overpasses has frozen and is causing slick spots.
Here are some cold-weather driving tips from the Army Corps of Engineers:
- Leave extra distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you. Also, avoid driving right next to someone in case your car slides.
- Drive below the posted speed limit.
- Brake gently if you start to skid, and turn into the direction your vehicle is skidding.
- Resist the urge to use your parking brake when it's cold; it could freeze and get stuck.
