On this day in 1999, an Elkridge man driving home from a bar struck and killed a bicyclist on Route 1 at Business Parkway, according to the Baltimore Sun. The man on the bicycle, Nick Prieto, died from injuries caused by the incident. The driver, Jeffrey Morris, was sentenced to serve one year in jail for negligent homicide while driving intoxicated and failure to stop immediately at the scene of the collision, according to court records.
