Elkridge Today: Take It Easy on the Roads

Temperatures dipped below freezing overnight.

Roads may be icy this morning, as below-freezing temperatures followed . 

Here are some tips from the State Highway Administration for winter driving: 

  • Buckle your seatbelt.
  • Take it slow and increase following distance, especially on ramps and bridges, which freeze first.
  • Move your foot off the gas if your vehicle starts to skid, and turn the wheel in the direction you're skidding.

The high for Elkridge today is 51 degrees and the low is 31, according to the National Weather Service.

On this day in 2001, the Baltimore Sun reported that an Elkridge man was charged with stabbing a cab driver on Washington Boulevard who wouldn't offer him a ride. The Elkridge man was sentenced to 18 years in jail for the first-degree assault charge, with 9 years suspended, according to court records. The Sun reported that the cab driver was taken to shock trauma and released the same day.
