Elkridge Today: The Power of Light

There may be enough sunshine to power a school today.

The high is 51 degrees and the low is 30 today in Elkridge, where it will be mostly sunny, according to the National Weather Service.

The light-filled forecast is good timing for Howard County, which will unveil Maryland's first solar array landfill project during a ceremony at Worthington Elementary School this morning.

County Executive Ken Ulman and other officials will ceremonially "flip the switch" on 2,000 solar panels installed on two acres of the county's landfill cap, which will provide power to the Ellicott City school.
