Elkridge Today: This Is Only a Test

Federal agencies are conducting a nationwide emergency alert test.

Speaking of planning, the government wants us to be prepared in case of an emergency so today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency will conduct the first nationwide emergency alert test with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

According to the FCC, the test will occur at 2 p.m. and will be similar to other tests that may be familiar to people; it’s just the first time the entire nation will experience the test at once. The 30-second alert will be broadcast on radio, TV and other media.

“This test is part of an ongoing effort to keep our nation safe during emergencies and strengthen our resilience against all hazards,” said the Howard County Health Department on Facebook. “Please remember Wednesday's alert is only a TEST!"

No need to be alert as far as the weather is concerned. The high is 68 degrees and the low is 48 in Elkridge today, with a clear forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
