Flood Warning for Howard County

Central and northern Maryland are on alert for streams and low-lying areas prone to flooding.

At 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flood warning for Howard County. 

In areas under a flood warning, flooding is “imminent or has been reported,” according to the NWS. The warning expires at 2 a.m. Friday.

The flood warning applies to the following counties:

  • Anne Arundel
  • Baltimore (county and city)
  • Carroll
  • Harford
  • Howard
  • Montgomery
  • Prince George’s

The storm moving through is "moderate," said the NWS, but "excessive runoff from rainfall will continue to cause flooding..."

Drivers should be cautious on roadways and if possible, avoid driving through water.
