Gas Prices are on the Move

According to AAA, this is the summer for road trips.

Looking to take a drive this summer? You might be in luck.

Gas prices are 37 cents cheaper in Elkridge now than they were this time last year, according to AAA. Across Maryland, prices are 41 cents cheaper and nationwide, prices are 32 cents less than they were this time last year.

“Remember that we had a huge surge early in the winter, in the early part of the year,” John Townsend, a spokesman for AAA Mid-Atlantic, told WTOP. Normally, Townsend said, that surge, which lowers demand, happens in the spring.

Low demand, increased production, low crude oil prices and “disappointing economic news” have all contributed to the lower prices which, according to AAA, will continue to slide throughout the summer.

By the Fourth of July Weekend, regular gas may be as low as $3.33 per gallon.
