Howard County's 9/11 Events

Police and fire departments plus county officials will gather with the public on the tenth anniversary of the attacks.

9/11 MEMORIAL CEREMONY
When:
8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11
Where: 's south entrance in Columbia
What: Presentation of colors by the police/fire Honor Guard, a moment of silence to remember the four Howard County residents who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks, and a procession to the “Garden of Hope” where the county executive will lay the traditional laurel wreath. 

POLICE PACE RACE
When: 9 a.m. (following ceremony) on Sunday, Sept. 11
Where: in Columbia
What: This event, which runs through Centennial Park, MD 108 and Woodland Drive, includes both a 5K and a 1-mile fun run, with proceeds going to the Howard County Police Foundation’s scholarship programs, including educational funds for children of fallen officers.

FIRST RESPONDERS REMEMBER 9/11 
When:
9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11
Where: Howard County's Public Safety Training Center (2200 Scott Wheeler Dr) in Marriottsville
What: There will be a tree-planting, bell-ringing and reading to remember the fallen Marylanders.
