Wife of Elkridge Man Accused of Murder Files for Divorce

Martha Jarrett has filed for divorce from Robert Jarrett, who is charged with murder in the death of his first wife 21 years ago.

 

The wife of an Elkridge man behind bars in the killing of his first wife 21 years ago has filed for divorce on grounds of adultery and abuse, reported the Howard County Times. 

Martha Joan Jarrett filed for divorce on April 27 from her husband Robert Jarrett, who was recently Her body was found buried beneath a shed in Jarrett's backyard.

In the filing, Martha Jarrett said that her husband had committed adultery, was living with another woman and had been “verbally and mentally” abusive, according to the Howard County Times.

Martha Jarrett also filed for a restraining order against her husband, according to court records, although he is currently being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.

Investigators, working from a tip, found buried under cement in the backyard of the home she had shared with Robert Jarrett at 6050 Claire Dr. in Elkridge.

Martha Hamacher met Robert Jarrett in April 1991 and they married in June 1993, according to the Howard County Times, which reported the couple has an 18-year-old daughter.

Martha Jarrett has continued living in the home on Claire Drive where investigators found the remains of Christine Jarrett. Martha Jarrett has with reporters.
