Maryland’s Department of the Environment has issued an air quality alert for several counties, including Howard, Baltimore and Anne Arundel. Officials advise children, older adults, asthmatics and people with heart/lung issues to avoid strenuous activity or exercise in the outdoors today.

Today’s high is 94 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The low is 74, and there’s a 20 percent chance of rain, most likely after 2 p.m.
