Things to Know About Elkridge Today: July 22

Breathing may feel more difficult today because of pollutants. The Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a “code red” air quality alert, meaning the general population should avoid strenuous outdoor activity or exercise on Friday. The alert applies to Howard, Harford, Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Carroll Counties.

It’s going to be 102 degrees in Elkridge today—but it will feel like 111—according to the National Weather Service. There’s a 20 percent chance of rain, most likely before 2 p.m. Storms producing heavy rain and strong wind are possible later, probably after 11 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of central Maryland from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Stay cool, stay hydrated and check on friends and relatives.
