Things to Know About Elkridge Today: July 6

Head into the day a little more informed.

It’s going to be a hot one—temperatures in Elkridge could get as high as 92 degrees today, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Evening temps will drop to 68 degrees.

There’s a 30 percent chance of rain during the day and a 20 percent chance at night, said the NWS, with showers in the forecast after noon. For this afternoon and evening, the NWS has issued a hazardous weather outlook, stating that strong thunderstorms could hit central Maryland, with "damaging wind gusts and large hail possible."

Rep. John Sarbanes will be visiting E-Structors in Elkridge today for a tour and to talk about a new e-waste bill he is introducing. that has become landfill-free over the past year.

Maryland Morning with Sheilah Kast on 88.1 FM will feature Larry Carson, who recently retired from the Baltimore Sun after more than 40 years. At 9 a.m., host Sheilah Kast will interview the man known as the go-to Howard County reporter. 

There’s an air quality alert in effect Wednesday for Howard, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford and Caroll Counties. Children, older adults and people with heart/lung/asthma issues should avoid exercising outdoors today, according to the Maryland Department of the Environment.
