Freeze Warning in Effect Overnight

The National Weather Service is predicting early morning frost on Tuesday over much of Maryland.

If you've already put away your winter coat for the season, it's time to dig it out and bundle up your plants too.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an overnight freeze warning for most of Maryland, including Howard County.

Temperatures are expected to drop to the 20s and 30s overnight, according to the NWS, which said the freeze warning is in effect between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The temperature drop poses a risk to vegetation, said the NWS report.

"Unseasonably warm temperatures" have propelled the growing season ahead of schedule, said the NWS, so "sub-freezing temperatures expected tonight and Tuesday morning could damage sensitive vegetation."
