Get 'Stacked': Library Hosts 15th Annual Cocktail Fundraiser

Celebrity bartenders will serve up an "evening in the stacks" at the Miller Branch Library's Mardi Gras-themed gala.

Ever wanted the County Council president to pour you a stiff drink?

This is your lucky weekend. See celebrity bartenders County Council President Mary Kay Sigaty and former Economic Development Authority CEO Dick Story, The Natty Beaux and a host of other special guests at the 15th Evening in the Stacks fundraiser this Saturday, Feb. 25, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.

“In the early years, it was a slightly quieter event with music, food, and a literary component,” said Howard County Public Library System spokeswoman Andrea Misner“When [Director of Public Relations] Christie Lassen began working at the Library and involved PW Feats as the event production company, Stacks began evolving into the event it is today.”

This year’s literary component includes two special guests: best-selling author Lisa See and Ron Charles, fiction critic for The Washington Post.

Another first–this year  will be at the new . If you weren’t one of the more than 7,100 people who attended the , and haven’t yet visited, this is your chance to check out the new 63,000 square-foot facility.

Misner said she expects at least 500 people to attend Saturday’s Mardi Gras-themed event.

Dress in your finest cocktail attire–masks and black tie are optional. 

Tickets are $125 and available at 410-313-7750, online, or at the door. Proceeds benefit the Library's educational initiatives, including A+ Partners in Education and Project Literacy.
