Arson Investigation in Elkridge: Howard County Crime Reports

The following information was supplied by the Howard County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Elkridge

Arson – Marshalee Drive

Police found a 2001 Chevy Impala fully engulfed in flames on the 9th fairway of the Timbers at Troy Golf Course. The car appeared to have been pushed down a nearby embankment. Police are investigating the case as arson. Read more on Elkridge Patch.

Ellicott City

Residential burglary, trespassing – 3600 Fels Lane

A 25-year-old Ellicott City man was arrested and charged with burglary after he was found occupying a vacant house currently owned by the county near the 3600 block of Fels Lane on the morning of Jan. 10. Police said no apparent force was used to gain entry to the residence.

Residential burglary – 3100 Pine Orchard Lane

Two televisions, a gaming console and video games were reported stolen from a residence on the 3100 block of Pine Orchard Ln. Police said entry was gained through an unlocked rear patio sliding window sometime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Jan. 8.

Commercial burglary – Remax, Centre Park Drive

Attempts were made to pry open two office doors at Re/Max near the 8800 block of Centre Park Dr. overnight on Jan. 8, but were unsuccessful. Police said entry to the building was made through the main lobby, without force.

Columbia

Residential burglary – Honeycomb Gate

Four necklaces were reported stolen from a residence near the 6100 block of Honeycomb Gate overnight on Jan. 9. Police found a rear window pried open to gain entry.

Residential burglary – Dasher Farm Court

A resident living on the 7000 block of Dasher Farm Ct. heard a tap on a window and saw a person flee toward Cradlerock Way after entering the residence’s yard through an unlocked fence around 3 p.m. on Jan. 9.

Attempted break-in – Morningbird Lane

No entry was made, but a rear window screen was removed and a window was pried at a residence near the 5800 block of Morningbird Ln. on Jan. 8.

Attempted break-in – Vantage Point Road

A rear patio screen door was found cut, but no entry was made to a residence near the 5400 block of Vantage Point Rd. on Jan. 10 around 10:30 a.m.

Clarksville

Residential burglary – Narrow Leaf Court

There was no apparent forced entry, but a backpack containing an iPad, Microsoft Surface tablet, MacBook Pro computer, cash, travelers’ checks and a passport were reported stolen from a residence near the 13500 block of Narrow Leaf Ct. sometime between Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

Mt. Airy

Home invasion – Long Corner Rd.

Three men wearing masks, one armed with a bat, another with a shotgun, reportedly attempted to enter a residence while demanding money near the 600 block of Long Corner Road around noon on Jan. 8. The residents did not comply and the three men fled. Later in the week, while serving a search warrant related to the home invasion, a suspect, Daniel Vail, 19, of Mt. Airy, was shot and killed by Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at two deputies. More information can be found on Columbia Patch.

Laurel

Residential burglary – Homestretch Court

Police found the front door of a residence near the 9200 block of Homestretch Ct. lying on its side, broken from the frame. Inside, the master bedroom was ransacked and a television, video game consoles, watches, jewelry and a laptop were reported stolen on the morning of Jan. 8.

Sykesville

Residential Burglary – Sunset Valley Drive

A rear sliding was found pried open and TVs, jewelry, electronics, computers, wine and wallets and were reported stolen from a residence near the 1900 block of Sand Hill Rd. between 11:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 9.

West Friendship

Residential burglary – Sand Hill Road

A handgun, television, jewelry, a computer and a generator were reported stolen from a residence near the 1900 block of Sand Hill Rd. on the afternoon of Jan. 9. Police said a garage window was used to gain entry.

Countywide Vehicle Thefts

A 1998 green Jeep Cherokee was reported stolen near the 9900 block of Marie Curie Dr. on Jan. 5 at 3:07 p.m.

Two vans were reported stolen near the 8800 block of Greenwood Pl. sometime between Dec. 4 and Jan. 10.

A 2000 two-door Honda was reported stolen near the 4800 block of Joyful Way on Jan. 10 at 6:30 a.m.
