Body of Missing Elkridge Woman Found Under Shed After 21 Years, Husband Charged

Robert Jarrett has been charged in the death of his former wife whose body police found buried in concrete under a shed.

Police have found the body of a woman they believe was killed 21 years ago and charged her husband, who lives on Claire Drive in Elkridge, in her death.

Detectives Wednesday searched the property of Robert Jarrett, 57, and found a body buried in concrete under his shed. They charged him with first and second-degree murder in the killing of his former wife, Christine Jarrett, whom he reported missing in 1991.

Robert Jarrett's current wife, from whom police said he is now separated, lives at the Claire Drive home.

"Police received permission from the current wife to conduct a search of the property and found the remains of a woman believed to be Christine Jarrett under the floorboards of a shed, buried in concrete," said the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) in a written statement.

"The remains will be analyzed by the medical examiner to confirm identity and cause of death," said the report. "Personal effects located with the body indicate it likely is Christine Jarrett."

On Friday, the medical examiner confirmed through dental records that the remains were those of Christine Jarrett.

In the last few hours of Jan. 3, 1991, Christine Jarrett reportedly had a dispute with her husband, according to the Doe Network, a volunteer group that helps law enforcement track missing persons. She was not seen after that.

Robert Jarrett reported his wife missing Jan. 5, 1991, according to HCPD.

"Police suspected foul play but did not have evidence at the time to prove it," said HCPD in a statement released April 19.

On Thursday morning, a note on the door at the Jarrett residence was posted that read: "No trespassing. No media."

Robert Jarrett was held at the Howard County Detention Center with no bond.

This article was updated on April 21 to reflect that the remains have been verified as those of Christine Jarrett.

Bob J said the reason why he failed BOTH lie detector tests was because they were asking mundane questions and then when they asked the questions about killing his wife, etc. it freaked him out that they were asking such questions. But isn't that what the lie detecter test is supposed to do, if the person is lying the needle will show it because they are "freaked out"?

Knowing him there is no way way he is going to confess and tell the truth. No way. He maybe will say it was an accident, maybe, if he admits anything. He thinks he is "all that" too much to admit he is a murderer. It will surprise me immensely if he admits to anything!
Sherry Jarrett April 26, 2012 at 12:38 PM
Whether an "accident", like he accidently applied too much pressure to her throat or accidently held the pillow over her face for too long, so I can automatically think he did it, whether by accident or on purpose. He purposely either had his hands around her throat or held the pillow over her face. So it was no accident that he killed her. He could not control his anger and he had no business having his hands around her throat or pillow over her face (if that is in fact the way he did it). As a side note, they had been separated the year before around August or so, and was living at his mother's house in the RV, and then he went back, maybe in August, some sort of timeline like that. Then he kills her in January.

His heavy drinking helped him keep his dark secret through the years. Coors Light and rum. And I think it was his downfall, as he probably ran his mouth to wife #2, letting out tidbits of the truth and she was probably the anoymous tipster, after leaving her for another woman. He has a long history of cheating on his wives. He cheated on Chrissy and now cheated on Martha. I don't know how his kids, 2 from Chrissy and one from Martha are going to view him now. Will they ever be able to speak or look at him again? I hope he gets life without parole. I'm pissed because he lied and deceived me and all of us for so long, he must have thought we were really gullible to believe him and listen to his BS stories.

sherry jarret know more than the rest of us outsiders being a family member. we only have thoughts and opinions. but agreed the annoyimus tip after 21 yrs is a baffle to everyone.
Elkridge Man April 26, 2012 at 03:15 PM
I think it is highly inappropriate to throw out family members names to the public. No ones name should be involved with this except Robert Jarrett's. Leave innocent family members names out of this.

if you had seen the original article (before it was edited), you would see that the article said that wife #2 told the police about the body. That is why they knew to look under the shed. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.....js
citizen April 26, 2012 at 03:38 PM
of course...that part of the article was removed by the editors AFTER putting the story on the internet, pending further investigation
Lawyer guy April 26, 2012 at 03:40 PM
I didn't read original story, they must of took it down or changed it.
citizen April 26, 2012 at 03:46 PM
The article was edited AFTER being posted online....it is the same as this one, only it had the info about who told the police about the body

Oh ok, guess they want to protect the unknown names involved.. Which have already been released in these threads!! They delete comments and I have no idea what some of these comments are even referring too. The fox 45 Facebook page article also said that the wife gave them the tip too. Now it's gone.

News spreads fast! Everyone is entitled to their thoughts and opinions that's what this is for. To express your feelings and thoughts on the info provided.
Elkridge Man April 26, 2012 at 05:25 PM
Yes, exactly! Share your feelings or opinions on the info provided. However, you don't provide your own information putting people's names out to the public, that is beyond ignorant and inconsiderate.
citizen April 26, 2012 at 05:27 PM
yes, I left a comment way at the beginning of the thread (based on the original story) and personally asked for the writer of the article to remove it, because people were calling me all kinds of names because, since they didn't see the non-edited version, they thought I was just making false accusations towards the 2nd wife, which I was not doing.
Lawyer guy April 26, 2012 at 05:33 PM
Agreed elkridge man, I never used anyone's name. I live on street. And know some of info but not claiming to spread any names or info not heard or known.
Elkridge Man April 26, 2012 at 05:36 PM
