Bolt Cutters and Butts in Elkridge Buglaries: Crime Roundup

Elkridge

Commercial Burglary

Two 250-foot copper welding cables and four 100-foot extension cables were stolen from Wilson and Sons in the 7500 block of Hearthside Way sometime between Feb. 23 and Feb. 25. Someone went through a gap in a fenced-in area and broke the lock on a storage container with bolt cutters.

Residential Burglary 

A circular saw was stolen from a vacant home currently under construction in the 8400 block of William Street sometime between Feb. 24 and Feb. 25. Police found blankets that were on the first floor had been moved to the attic. Inside the attic police also found cigarette butts.

Ellicott City

Residential Burglary

Jewelry was stolen from the master bedroom of an residence in the 3600 block of Rusty Rim after someone forced the front door open to enter the home during the day on Feb. 26.

Someone forced open a door at a residence in the 4000 block of High Point Road, ransacked the home, and stole televisions, computers, jewelry, handbags and multiple game systems between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 25.

Columbia

Residential Burglary

A man returned to his home in the 10300 block of Painted Cup to find another man coming down his stairs with his wife’s jewelry box at 7 p.m. on Feb. 26. Upon seeing the homeowner, the man fled out a rear sliding door. Police reported a rear kitchen window was pried open to gain entry.

Someone used an unknown tool to punch a hole in the glass on a rear French door at a residence in the 10100 block of Hyla Brook Road between 2:30 and 8 p.m. on Feb. 27. A safe containing cash, passports and other personal papers was stolen.

A television, laptop, electronic gaming system and a duffle bag were stolen from a residence in the 10100 block of Hyla Brook Road on Feb. 27 around 11 a.m. A rear door was forced open to gain entry.

A person or persons likely used a key left under the doormat to enter a residence in the 5200 block of Rivendell Lane and stole an electronic gaming system sometime during the day on Feb. 27.

There were no signs of forced entry, but a gaming system was stolen from a residence in the 5700 block of Stevens Forest Road sometime on Feb. 26.

Personal items were damaged with bleach and televisions and jewelry were stolen from a residence in the 5700 block of Alderleaf Place sometime between Feb. 20 and Feb. 25. Police said the incident may be domestic and expect to file charges in the case.

North Laurel

A woman left her patio door unsecured when she left her apartment between 7 and 10 p.m. on Feb. 25. During that time her television and music keyboard were stolen.

County-wide Vehicle Thefts

A 2006 burgundy Mercedes C230 was reportedly stolen from Carmax in the 8800 block of Freestate Drive on Feb. 26.
