Cindy's and Verizon Burglarized in Elkridge: Crime Roundup

Elkridge

Commercial burglary

Police responded to an alarm at Cindy’s Skylight Liquors, in the 7200 block of Montgomery Road to find the back doors had been pried open; the doors led to a cooler. Police do not know how the burglars got into the store, but they did. Cash was reported stolen from an unlocked safe. The computer system with video surveillance was also reported stolen.

Commercial burglary

The front door was shattered at Verizon store in the 7200 block of Montgomery Road on August 8 at about 2:45 a.m. Burglars used a rock to break the door, which activated the alarm. Four cell phones and two tablets were reported stolen.

Columbia

Residential burglary

Police say residents returned home to the 9000 block of Scotch Pine Court to find an electronic gaming system missing. There was no sign of forced entry to the home but the alarm system company had called o August 5 to alert the victims that the alarm had been activated. The victims declined to have police check the house, but a friend and their house sitter checked the home and found nothing suspicious.

Residential burglary – attempt

Police say a woman was lying on the couch in her home in the 10200 block of Pembroke Green Place on August 12 at about 4:25 p.m. when she heard a scratching noise coming from a window. She saw someone trying to remove the screen from her window. She stood up, yelled and the person fled toward Twin Rivers Road. The burglar is described as a black male teenager, 16- 19-years-old with a high fade-style haircut. He was wearing blue t-shirt and black athletic shorts. 

Bikes stolen

Two bicycles were reported stolen from an open garage in the 6700 block of Sewells Orchard Drive sometime between 9 p.m. on August 11 and 7 a.m. the next day.

Indecent exposure

Police responded to the 7100 block of Thomas Edison Drive on August 11 at about 2:45 p.m. A witness reported seeing a naked male bathing himself with a garden hose. The man drove off in what may have been a silver SUV.

Ellicott City

Residential burglary

A neighbor saw the back door had been opened at a home in the 3500 block of Church Road sometime between August 8 and August 10. The neighbor walked through the house and saw cabinets were opened. Jewelry was reported stolen and sever rooms had been ransacked. 

Someone broke a back glass door and entered a vacant house in the 4800 block of Montgomery Road sometime between July 30 and August 10. Copper piping was reported stolen.

A homeowner in the 1100 block of Dorsch Farm Road was power washing his house when he noticed a screen had been removed from a lower level window and the window was cracked. He also noticed a basement handle door was loose. There were no signs of entry. 

Savage

Commercial burglary

A window was broken at the Savage Mill Antique Center, in the 8600 block of Foundry Street, sometime between August 8 and August 11. Nothing was reported stolen.

Jessup

Commercial burglary

The front door was shattered at Wooday’s Liquor Store, in the 8800 block of Washington Boulevard. A passerby noticed and called police. Two cases of beer and two bottles of flavored vodka were reported stolen.

Woodstock

Residential burglary

A resident of the 10500 block of Chester Way told police on August 10 that a known person broke into the home using a spare key. Three rings were reported stolen from a jewelry box.

Glenelg 

Residential burglary - attempt

Someone removed two screens from a residence in the 13700 block of Bold Venture Drive sometime between August 5 and August 9. No other damage was found to the home.

Countywide vehicle thefts/attempts

A 1994 Ford van with the tags VA TU91787 was stolen from the 8300 block of Patuxent Range Road.

A black 1999 Honda Accord with the tags MD KA07011 was stolen from the 10200 block of Wincopin Circle on August 10 between about 8 and 11 p.m.

Someone tried to steal a vehicle from the 5700 block of April Journey Road on August 12. Police did not release any further details about the incident.
