Construction Burglaries and Suspected Burglar Robbed: Crime Roundup

Elkridge

Construction site burglaries

Two homes under construction in the 5400 block of Wecker Way were entered with no apparent force and someone removed copper backflows and pressure reducer valves sometime between April 19 - 22. Another residence in the 5400 block of Forest Kelly Court was also struck during the same time period.

Suspected burglar arrested after being robbed

A juvenile male who entered an abandoned house in the 3300 block of St. Johns Lane was confronted by three other males inside the house who had bandanas covering their faces. The three men stole the juvenile's electronic tablet, cell phone and lighter, and fled. The juvenile called police, who responded to find that he had kicked in the front door to gain entry to the house and charged the juvenile with fourth-degree burglary around 11:20 p.m. on April 24.

Attempted armed robbery

A man was walking to his apartment in the 3100 block of West Springs Drive around midnight on April 23 when a man approached him armed with a knife and demanded money. In response, the man yelled at his apartment causing friends and family to run outside, which scared off the suspected robber. Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male, about 20-years-old, 5-foot-7, 150 pounds, wearing a black hoodie and armed with a knife.

Attempted commercial burglary

Two large holes were cut into the rear concrete wall of Citgo Gas in the 8300 block of Baltimore National Pike sometime on April 22. Whoever cut the holes was unable to penetrate the steel wall on the other side of the wall.

Construction site burglary

Someone pried open a garage door at a residence under construction in the 4900 block of Windpower Way and stole a copper backflow and pressure reducer valve from the basement between April 19 and April 22.

Columbia

Weapons taken

Two handguns, a rifle, jewelry, shoes, televisions and computers were stolen from a residence in the 5300 block of Brook Way during the day on April 23. Someone entered the home by forcing the front door open.

Indecent exposure

A witness saw a mother and child approaching a business when an elderly male, sitting at a picnic table exposed himself in the 9600 block of Gerwig Lane on April 24 around 11:53 a.m.

Commercial burglary

Someone entered the office of General Dentistry located in the 10700 block of Charter Drive through an unlocked front door and, once inside, took cash, a check and a credit card receipt between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on April 24.

Break-in attempt

A man entering his apartment in the 8300 block of Tamar Drive saw another, unknown man, attempting to open his patio door around 8:50 on April 22. The man chased the unknown man, who was able to get away.

Residential burglary

An antique pocket watch was stolen from a residence in the 7200 block of Candleshine Court sometime between Jan. 15 and April 22.

Broken window

Nothing was reported missing, but a rear basement window was found broken at a residence in the 5900 block of Grand Banks Road on April 22.

Residential burglary

Electronic gaming items, games, an iPod Touch and a stun gun were stolen from a residence in the 10300 block of College Square after someone entered through a first level rear sliding door in the morning of April 24.

Residential burglary

Several pieces of jewelry and a jewelry case were taken from an apartment in the 10600 block of Gramercy Place during the day on April 22.

Laurel

Theft arrest

Officers checking on a construction site in the 8400 block of Ice Crystal Drive saw a truck loaded with vinyl siding and construction materials leaving the site around 3 a.m. on April 22. When the officers attempted to stop the truck, it sped up and failed to stop. Eventually the truck stopped on I-95 near I-495 and the driver jumped out. After a foot chase, police arrested the man, a 26-year-old from Adelphi and charged him with four counts of theft.
